Women empowerment program
A-step Slogan under this program is “empower a woman kill poverty” With women having been sidelined for the entire human history, it has reached a point in time where this can no longer sell if we (the community) are going to realize sustainable development. The organization is now picking up the mantle to advocate for women empowerment and gender equality in the community.
The program involves and targets women of all kinds who are below the age of 35. The categories include:
The program gives women the feel of self worth and their importance to the community (through motivational talks). This helps women to focus on self development with the aim of having independence from the stigmatization that is at times attached to women in our communities.
The program has structures in place to source for women in the community and to bring them together with the aim of build them up as groups. In these groups, they are assisted to register as women youth groups and here, they get to start up IGA’s to meet their financial needs.
With this program, the women are empowered with different life skills like:
This program uses the “Gender and Development” approach that integrates gender awareness and competence into mainstream development. This approach views the needs of both genders in society so as to develop the women in such a way that it would not bring an estrangement between the two genders.
To achieve this, the program advocates for gender equity and equality. The community is shown the benefits that this brings to the family and community at large (in a developmental perspective).
