Nurturing, developing and exposing talent to create opportunities. Building role models and sports professionals.
Eldoret is home to numerous kids and youth who have a great talent in sports. Since there is no institution / academy in Eldoret that can help them develop these talents in a professional way, a lot of this talent has gone to waste.
The A-step Sports Academy will train talented kids and expose them to opportunities for further development. The academy will cooperate with the A-STEP Community program and school program, to identify and select talented kids.
Besides this, the A-step academy program will train and educate individuals with experience in sports to build them as professionals in sports. They will be educated on technical sports training and several sports management courses.
The Sports Academy is currently under development. The activities of this program can be divided into two packages.
The first package is focusing on technical soccer training for children. The activities of the program will be training, coaching, and creating exposure of children. The purpose of the program is to nurture talent, create opportunities for children with talent for sports and build role models.
The second package will be focusing on providing short and practical sports related courses such as sport management, leadership and communication and technical training to coaches, team leaders, school teachers, referees etc. The purpose will be to create sports professionals and strengthen sports organizations in the region. The program will try to attract foreign interns to benefit from exchange experiences.
The academy program will cooperate closely with the school- and community programs to identify and select talent to be developed in the academy. It will also partner with these programs to train schoolteachers and community coaches.

Organization
A-step program manager
The program manager carries the final responsibility of the program. He will instruct the head coaches of package one, and the trainers of package two on their tasks and responsibilities, will monitor their progress, evaluate and adjust strategy when needed.
Head coaches boys / girls
The head coaches are responsible for the implementation of package one. They will instruct all trainers, cooperate with the schools and community coaches to identify talent and coordinate exchanges and matches with partner organizations.
Trainers boys / girls teams, -14 / -17
The trainers are responsible for giving sports training to, and developing the talents of participants of the program.
Facilitators of courses
The facilitation of courses will be outsourced to specialized partners. Contracts with these partners will be designed to clarify all responsibilities.

Objectives
2015-2016 – objectives package one:
- Having 150 kids participating in the academy. At least 60 need to be girls;
- 5 skilled trainers will be identified.
2017-2020 – objectives package one:
- Having 500 kids participating in the academy, at least 200 need to be girls;
- 20 skilled trainers will be working in the academy;
- There will be 3 exchanges each year, in which at least 120 children are participating;
- Sending 60 kids for selection by other organizations (such as madare united, copa coca cola & quatar espire) during football talent search.
- Having an academy team participating in district league.
2015-2016 – objectives package two:
- To create 3 courses e.d. Refereeing, Sports event management, M&E and coaching and training skills;
- To find appropriate partners for each course.
2017-2020 – objectives package two:
- Set up a sports management library;
- Have at least 10 trained participants working as sports professionals;
- Accommodating one internship each year from SM&O.
