Community Program
Providing opportunities for development of skills, talent and knowledge and motivating individuals though the sharing of experiences and interaction with positive role models.
The Community Program has been implemented by A-step for a long time.
This is a program where A-step uses sports as a tool for social change with the main aim of addressing issues affecting the community
A-STEP Coaches and Team Leaders organize various sports activities (football, athletics, netball, volleyball) as well as music, drama, concerts, dancing and discussions which draw the youth from different communities together, providing an ideal opportunity for public information campaigns on prevention and protection and reaching large numbers of people of different backgrounds, sexes, ages, tribes, countries, nationalities and religions
Besides participating in tournaments and interaction games, the teams train with their community coaches. These coaches provide them with value based sports activities. While playing, they are given opportunity to learn and develop life skills and talents, have group discussions, share experiences and receive knowledge on social topics such as crime, drugs and substance abuse, and teen pregnancy.
The community games create opportunity for interaction between teams from different areas both in urban and rural, as well as interaction with positive role models and opinion leaders.
The games and discussions have been divided into different category as per the age that is under 14yrs, Under 18yrs, 18yrs – 26yrs and 27yrs – 36yrs, the reason being that during message outreach it’s given to the right people. A-STEP has different programs under the community Program:
