Currently the organization is in the process of expanding its reach to the youths and kids by building the A-STEP House of Talents Centre, located in Illula, 8 Km from Eldoret town. We managed to purchase the land for the building through the community together with a few well wishers and beneficiaries. We have a construction plan and specified budget by contractor and now mobilizing resources from friends and partners and proceeding with the construction of the centre.
Beside the construction of the House of Talents Centre, we also managed to purchase a 2 acre Land through the assistance of the University of Amsterdam department of Sports Management and Business with the support from Wilde Ganzen, a development organization in the Netherlands, The land is in the process of being transformed to a sport playing field.
This initiative will bring sustainability to the organization, where youths and kids will develop into positive and productive members of the community and promote sports and talent excellence as tools for livelihood improvement and social change.
A-STEP House of Talents Centre will help the youth develop into positive and productive members of the community and give the youth facilities to engage in positive activities such as soccer, volleyball to keep them busy and instill discipline so that they will not be involved in antisocial or disruptive behaviors as a result of drug abuse and other negative influences. This will also be a place for the youth to meet positive role models from different backgrounds to follow.
The centre will help to nurture some of the hidden natural talents the youth in the community possess. This will help build strong leaders not only on sports activities but also disciplines such as good leadership and cross-cultural exchange program and other development oriented activities. In all of these ways, the center will build an empowered and sustainable community that will encourage and promote the spirit of volunteerism, talent excellence and gainful engagement in viable activities among the youth.
The funds donated by Wilde Ganzen managed to complete the left wing part of the centre which will serve as the office. This request came through SM&O/ALO (University of Amsterdam department of Sports Management and Business).
The big task yet to be done is completing the whole centre. That’s why we are asking for your support.
